The Westfjords are truly magical, it is the oldest part of Iceland. There is something very unique about the steep mountain ranges and isolated fjords.
On this route you will be driving up and down mountain roads and see uninhabited deep fjords and beautiful coastline with seals and birds. You get to try the local swimming pools- both natural and some old ones that have been abandoned, you see the westernmost part of Iceland at Látrabjarg bird cliffs- in the summer the cliffs are the home of the puffins and you end the tour sailing among the thousand islands of Breiðafjordur.

Day 1 From Reykjavík you take the main road to Drangsnes area
Day 2 Cruise the scenic fjords of Ísafjardardjúp
Day 3 A drive to Patreksfjordur and Látrabjarg cliffs
Day 4 A ferry over the Breiðafjördur the bay of thousand islands and a drive back to Reykjavík

Day 1 Drive to Drangsnes area.
From Reykjavík you drive through the tunnel under Hvalfjordur and drive all the way to the town of Hólmavík. The witchcraft museum at Hólmavík is an interesting place to visit. From Hómavík you drive to Drangsnes, on the site of the main street of the town are few public hot tubs that you should try out and enjoy the great views over the bay and Grímsey island. From Hólmavík you take the gravel road and drive by the many driftwood beaches all the way to Bjarnafjordur.
Day 2 Cruise the scenic fjords of Ísafjardardjúp with many beautiful stops on the way.
We end the day at Ísafjörður the largest town in the Westfjords.
Day 3 A drive to Patreksfjordur and Látrabjarg cliffs
From Ísafjörður we drive pass some small fishing villages on the way to Látrabjarg cliffs. On the way you should take the time to stop at one of Iceland’s most beautiful waterfalls Dynjandi. At Látrabjarg the westernmost part of Europe we explore the magical birdlife of the largest seabird colony in the Northern Atlantic. On the way back to Patreksfjorður the Folk Museum at Hnjótur is worth visiting, it is among the most interesting museums in the country with many remarkable items from old times.
We end the day at Patreksfjörður fishing village.
Day 4 From Brjánslækur we take the ferry over Breiðafjördur the bay of thousand islands and a drive back to Reykjavík.
