Sample itinerary:
Day 1- Arrival in Iceland
Arrival in Iceland in the morning, the transfer straight to the hotel in Reykjavík – around 45 minutes drive, a check in and some free time to explore Reykjavík city in the afternoon.
In the evening you enjoy a dinner at the Steakhouse restaurant – a set 3-course menu for the group.
Day 2 – Glacier, Snowmobiling, Mountain hut and a natural hot tub
In the morning we pick you up and drive straight to the Arctic Trucks headquarters in Reykjavík- 10 minutes drive, we take a tour around the garage and introduction on Arctic Trucks and the modification on the vehicles.
When you are ready you sit behind the wheel on our specially modified super truck with all its power in your hands – this is a replica of the vehicle we made for Top Gear when they went to the North Pole!
From the Arctic Trucks headquarters we will be traveling up to the highlands to Langjökull glacier. It is the second largest glacier in Iceland, after Vatnajökull and the glacier and its surroundings will be our home for the next 2 days. At the glacier we will join an exhilarating one-hour snowmobiling tour across the endless white snowfields, a great way to combine the adrenaline-filled activity of your choice with the awe-inspiring scenery.
When we get back in the trucks we take the highland track Kjolur up to the highlands and all the way to Hveravellir nature reserve where we will spend the night in a remote highland hut in the middle of the highlands at the borders of a warm stream. On the way we tackle all kinds of winter conditions and test the skills of the truck on the way.
In the winter time sometimes the ground is covered with snow and no roads or tracks visible, so we only drive by GPS or take the shortest way over the snow.
At Hveravellir we enjoy a BBQ leg of lamb, take a bath in the warm stream, enjoy a cold beer and hopefully we can see the northern lights dancing above our heads!
We spend the night in the remote mountain hut in Hveravellir.
Day 3 – Mountain road driving and Reykjavík
In the morning we enjoy a good breakfast and coffee in the hut before we start driving back down the highland road Kjölur. We take a tour around the mountains and surroundings – the guide will choose the best way to go depending on conditions.
When we get back to the normal roads again we stop at Geysir hot spring, the one and only Geysir that all other geysers in the world are named after.
From Geysir we drive to Reykjavík city, we should check in at the hotel in the afternoon just in time for a gourmet dinner and after we enjoy the Icelandic nightlife!
Dinner at Grillmarket restaurant in the city center.
Day 4 – Blue Lagoon
You have the morning free to explore Reykjavík city on your own before our transfer picks ups the group and we head to Reykjanes peninsula.
For a perfect ending on a perfect trip we visit the world famous Blue Lagoon for a relaxing bath in the milky waters before our return back home to reality. The Blue Lagoon is fed by the water output of the nearby geothermal power plant Svartsengi. The warm waters are rich in minerals like silica and sulfur and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to have a good effect on people’s skin
After the relaxation in the Blue Lagoon it is time to catch a flight back to home.
